"THERE ARE SOME TEAMS AND LOGOS YOU SEE, NO MATTER WHERE IN THE WORLD YOU ARE, YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHO THEY ARE AND WHAT THEY MEAN."
- LEBRON JAMES

If there is one style of graphic design I get a whole bunch of joy from it's definitely got to be mascot logos. I find the design process behind creating effective yet minimal mascot logos to be particularly challenging and always interesting.

Sports design is certainly one of the lanes of graphic design I think I could really fit into well. Whether I'm redesigning an existing organization brand or coming up with a team mascot myself I just have so much fun with this classic style. Great mascot logos can do so much for a brand. Strong colors, bold shapes, and sharp lines.

SCAD BEES

SCAD BEES

Well, I had to do it. I'm a SCAD graphic design student so I just couldn't help myself but try to tackle redesigning the mascot logo for an art and design school. Talk about a daunting task. Five colors and some really bold shapes is all i needed to make that bee look good.

LOS ANGELES CHARGERS

NOW THAT'S ELECTRIC

Now I've never been a chargers fan however I really couldn't help myself but challenge myself to make a really good looking horse mascot logo. I love the sharp curves and minimalist use of color and I think any chargers fan out there can get behind this one.

OREGON DUCKS

QUACKING NEVER LOOKED SO GOOD

Now I'm a west coast kid and no one does athletics on the west coast better than Oregon. It's probably not a big surprise that the school doesn't use an image of a duck as their main logo and I really wanted to challenge myself to make a strong and modern logo for the school that actually used a duck.

FOX MASCOT

THIS ONE'S JUST A FOX

Nothing crazy special here. Just one of my sketches turned to life. Over the years I've always pushed myself to just keep on making stuff. I really like this one.

THUNDERRIDGE GRIZZLIES

MAKING A LOGO FOR OUR RIVAL SCHOOL

While my high school football coach might have some negative words about this, I just couldn't help myself but redesign the main mascot logo for my high school's closest rivals. The colors are strong and distinct and if you're going to wear a bear on your shirt it better look like this.

BaY SIDE ORCAS

NOW THAT'S A KILLER LOGO

Another one of my favorite logos I've ever brought to life. There are some animals just are just a little harder to conceptualize than the go-to mascots we normally see. I challenged myself again to create a strong and purposeful logo that won't look out of place amongst all the rest.

SAN JOSE SHARKS

WHO KNEW THEY COULD LOOK SO CUTE

Admittedly, my sister told me my portfolio just wouldn't be complete without a logo of a shark so the inspiration was there. As a wanna-be minimalist, I strive to communicate the attitude of the brand in the simplest way possible. Fun colors, a strong layout, and some simple type are all you need to make a "cute" shark mascot.
